Dear self,

What the heck are you doing?

You trying to prove something?

Because really, you’re not helping your claim just by writing product descriptions,

They’re lightweight!

Look, if you have a lot of time on your hands then just look behind your desk. You have board games you haven’t played in a while

Questioning everything,

You

Dear me,

I don’t know… Is writing product descriptions really easy? Because I think that take is a little undercooked.

Yes, it’s kinda soft compared to where I got this idea.

Justin Blackman did 10,000+ headlines. Robert Lukas did 29 sales letters on 29 days.

But you know what? I actually think writing product descriptions for 30 days is also really hard.

I mean, we’re not doing this to compete with those dudes anyway. (we’re gonna lose!) The point here is, by the end, we’d sharpen our copy chops and show some teeth! Think about the leads that will read this!

You only think that product descriptions are lightweight because for some reason, most people are under utilizing them. And it’s obvious. Visit random online shops, go to any product page… All they do is straight up describe and that’s it.

That’s a wasted opportunity!

What the hell happened to creativity and connection?

Look, what’s the last thing anyone sees before deciding to hit that add to cart or buy button?

THE PRODUCT DESCRIPTION.

Need I say more?

They could literally be the ‘buy’ or ‘bye’ factor in the customer’s journey.

So this is us, trying to show that these businesses should take their product descriptions seriously.

They shouldn’t be just checklists stuffed with keywords that describe what they sell with a liveliness of a well-fed sloth.

Because once the biz managed to bring people to that product page, they don’t buy because something’s optimized.

They buy because something resonates… because words made them picture what they could get.

That’s the last nudge drawing them closer to the right decision.

And that’s the craft we want to master.

So yes, I think we’re seriously doing this. 30 days.

And also, for the record. It’s you who started this. You literally started this conversation. So don’t bring up our boardgames.

Just do it and don’t chicken out.

Good luck,

You.

Pfft. 2 idiots talking.

Although… the other one has got a point…

I haven’t played board games in a while…

Oh sorry, I meant the other one talking about product descriptions.

People really aren’t taking the descriptions seriously. So, okay. Yes I’m gonna do this.

Here’s the daily routine. Every day, I’m on the hunt for one local brand. First one that I saw on my feed gets a product description revamp they definitely didn’t ask for.

I’ll basically invite myself to their website, choose a product (or maybe products), and craft my version of an effective last nudge.

So you might wanna check what I’m doing if you’re running ads somewhere.

Who knows? Maybe I’d be writing yours. And maybe you’re gonna like it.
